There’s no doubt about it: composite decks cost more. Right? Nope, not necessarily. When you consider cost over time, the low maintenance nature of composite may actually save you money AND time. But composite isn’t entirely maintenance-free.
Composite Deck Maintenance
To maintain the beauty of your investment, it is important to keep it clean. See here for products specially formulated to clean your composite deck.

Treated Wood Decks
Truly, few can dispute the warmth and natural beauty of a wood deck. Although composite decking is gaining in popularity, wood decks are not going anywhere. A treated wood deck provides unmatched versatility for deck design. Keep it natural or colour it to your heart’s desire; if you change your mind you can always switch it up with a new paint or stain!
Wood Deck Maintenance
To maintain the colour and surface of Treated Wood, a high-quality waterproof paint or stain with water repellent should be applied to the wood after construction, as soon as the wood is dry to the touch. Browse wood paints and stains specially formulated to enhance and preserve the beauty of your treated deck.
Tanatone Brown Treated Lumber
The first thing you will notice when you see a deck built with Tanatone Treated Lumber is the warm natural brown tone. This rich brown tone slowly weathers to warm honey brown and then to natural silver grey. The preservative used meets CSA standards and can be used above ground, in ground contact, and in fresh water.

Cedar Decks
Ahhh… just sit back and relax on your brand new cedar deck. If you love the natural look of wood in your yard but you want your deck to last longer than a treated deck, cedar is the answer. Naturally water repellent and resistant to rot, cedar decking is less likely to warp and can be expected to last for 20 years or more with proper care. The earthy scent of cedar complements the beautiful natural colour which will gradually fade to grey. An added bonus: unlike most composite decking, if you like to go barefoot, cedar stays cool on a hot day!
Cedar Deck Maintenance
Although lower maintenance than treated lumber, cedar does require some regular maintenance, especially if you want to prolong cedar’s warm reddish brown colour. Since cedar is a softer material, you should regularly remove debris to cut down on scratching. Even though cedar is naturally water-repellent, sealing your deck will protect your investment and prolong its life. Cedar does not need to be stained but if you do not care for the grey colour of your aging cedar deck, you may use a penetrating stain to maintain the colour of your choice.
Gillfor Western Red Cedar Decking
Western Red Cedar decking adds a rich, natural beauty to your home and can be finished to complement any surrounding. This premium cedar decking is structurally sound, naturally resistant to rot, and feels wonderful underfoot. Gillfor decking is sustainably grown and is 100% recyclable and renewable.

Vista Aluminum Deck Railing is made with 100% pure high-strength aluminum with a premium UV powder coat, this aluminum railing is built to last and it will not rust or fade It is available in white, yard bronze, and textured black.
Slim lines and a lower profile make Urban aluminum railing more affordable than other aluminum railings, but it also gives it a simplified, more “urban” appearance. With the low-maintenance appeal of aluminum – and a lower price tag – this new railing from Regal Aluminum Railing is sure to be a hit. Currently stocked in black, ask us about other colours, available by special order.
Nuvo Traditional Railing
Nuvo Railing merges the low-maintenance of aluminum and the more traditional look of wood. Nuvo Traditional Railing is available in easy-to-install 6’ and 8’ kits, with treated wood rails and posts and black powder-coated balusters. Or just choose the balusters to use with your own rails and posts.
Treated Wood Deck Railing
Tried and true, treated wood deck railing will always have a place on many decks, both for DIYers or professional deck builders. This is a higher maintenance choice as, like all wood, it will need to be sealed, stained or painted to make it last to its full potential. However, it’s typically a more budget friendly choice and this accessibility makes it worth consideration. Bonus: with a little imagination, there are no limits with wood. Create a safe but unique conversation piece with a creative pattern or stick with vertical balusters and play with the spacing (following local building codes). We stock balusters in 2”x2” brown treated balusters in 42” and 48” heights.
Frameless Glass Railing
